Sabino Canyon Trip

We are excited to announce a special outing to beautiful Sabino Canyon in Tucson, Arizona — the day after the convention. This trip is for those who are not attending the Monday Youth Activity and would like to join us for a memorable time enjoying one of Arizona’s most beautiful and meaningful desert canyons.

Transportation

This will be a caravan trip, so each family or group will need to provide their own transportation. We will not have buses or group transportation available, so please coordinate with your family or group ahead of time.

Please arrive early. We plan to leave on schedule.

Approximately 2 hours each way

What to Expect

Once we arrive at the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, you will park your vehicle in the main parking lot. From there, we will take the Sabino Canyon tram into the canyon. The tram allows visitors to enjoy different areas of the canyon without having to walk the entire route.

After the tram ride, we plan to enjoy a hike through part of the canyon.

Because of the summer heat, we will not be hiking the full trail or going all the way to the more difficult areas of the canyon. However, there will still be plenty of beautiful scenery to enjoy.

Please note: The hike and this event in general are not suitable for individuals with mobility issues. The terrain is uneven and involves walking on natural canyon trails.

Please Come Prepared

August in Tucson can be extremely hot, so please plan accordingly. Please also be aware that August is monsoon season in Arizona, so sudden rain showers are possible.

Please bring:

Plenty of water
Comfortable clothing for hot weather
Tennis shoes or proper hiking shoes
Sunscreen, hat, or other sun protection

After the Hike

After the hike, everyone is free to make their own plans for lunch or dinner.

Please also plan your own return trip back to Chandler. We will travel together to Sabino Canyon, but we will not be caravanning back as a group.

Cost & Sign-Up

We will be collecting payment ahead of time so we can purchase tickets and help ensure availability. Space may be limited, so please sign up as soon as possible.

Sign-ups close July 1, 2026. We will be collecting sign-ups and payment through July 1 so we can reserve tram tickets as a group. After that date, you are still welcome to join the caravan, but you will need to purchase your own tram tickets at the canyon, and we cannot guarantee that tickets will still be available.
