We are truly honored that you are planning to join us for the 2026 Maricopa Convention. We understand that traveling to the United States from another country can feel overwhelming—especially when visas, interviews, and documents are involved. Our goal is to help you feel informed, prepared, and confident as you begin this process.
While each person’s situation is unique, most of our international guests will follow a similar path when applying to enter the United States. This guide is meant to help you understand what to expect and where to find trustworthy information.
The United States offers many types of visas, depending on the reason for travel. For most convention attendees, the visa will be temporary, meaning you are coming for a specific purpose and returning home afterward.
B-1 / B-2 Visitor Visa
This is the most common visa used by guests attending conferences, conventions, church gatherings, or short visits.
B-1: Business-related travel (meetings, conferences, conventions)
B-2: Tourism, visiting friends or family, religious events
Many applicants receive a combined B-1/B-2 visa, which is perfectly acceptable for attending the convention.
Other visa types (such as student or work visas) generally do not apply unless you already hold one for another purpose.
All U.S. visas are processed through the U.S. Department of State, specifically through U.S. Embassies and Consulates in your home country.
Their official website is the only reliable source for visa rules, forms, and fees.
Please be cautious of third-party websites or agents who promise guaranteed approvals—no one can guarantee a visa.
While details vary by country, most applicants will go through these steps:
For convention guests, this is usually B-1/B-2.
This is an electronic form where you’ll provide:
Personal information
Travel purpose
Passport details
Travel history
After submission, you’ll receive a confirmation page—keep this safe.
Fees vary by country and visa type and are non-refundable, even if the visa is denied.
Most applicants must attend an in-person interview at the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
You will typically need:
A valid passport
DS-160 confirmation page
Visa fee receipt
A recent photograph
Proof of ties to your home country (work, family, school, finances)
Convention invitation letter (we will provide this when applicable)
A consular officer will ask questions about:
Why you are traveling
How long you plan to stay
How you will support yourself
Your intention to return home after the convention
Answer honestly and clearly. Short, direct answers are best.
Visa appointments and processing times vary widely by country. We strongly recommend starting the process as early as possible.
Some countries are part of the Visa Waiver Program, which allows travel without a visa for up to 90 days. Travelers must still apply online for ESTA approval before traveling.
Accurate, complete information is essential. Any incorrect or misleading information can result in delays or denial.
Final admission into the U.S. is determined by border officials upon arrival. This is standard procedure and nothing to fear when traveling honestly and with proper documentation.
